Pistoia Musei offers a fascinating journey through the exhibition '60 Pop Art Italia, a retrospective devoted to Italian Pop Art, which will take place from March 16 to July 14 at Palazzo Buontalenti in the heart of Pistoia.<\/p>\n
Pop Art, which was born in the urban contexts of London in 1956 and then spread to New York, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome, also found deep roots in Italy beginning in the 1960s. Initially concentrated in Rome and later in Turin and Milan, Italian Pop Art quickly spread to other cities, with groups of artists such as the \"School of Pistoia,\" confronting other creative realities on the peninsula, such as the famous \"School of Piazza del Popolo\" in Rome. Venice also played a significant role, hosting a Biennale in 1964 that consecrated American art and artists such as Robert Rauschenberg.<\/p>\n
The exhibition offers a journey through seventy works, starting with the historic 1964 Biennale, reconstructing an artistic map of Italy, highlighting the vibrancy and creativity of that period, considered one of the most fruitful in Italian art of the second half of the 20th century.<\/p>\n
