In the evocative setting of the Museo Novecento in Florence, located in the historic Leopoldine in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, there is an unmissable exhibition for lovers of 20th-century Italian art: 'Ritorni. From Modigliani to Morandi'. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its inauguration, the Museum has prepared an exceptional exhibition, which will remain open from 23 March to 15 September 2024.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is Amedeo Modigliani's self-portrait, a prized piece on loan from the Museum of Contemporary Art in São Paulo, Brazil. This work, painted in 1919 shortly before the artist's death, provides a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the intimacy of his artistic expression.
Alongside Modigliani's masterpiece, twenty paintings of great artistic and historical value from Alberto Della Ragione's collection and lent by renowned Italian and foreign museums are on display. Among the most significant works are Giorgio Morandi's Metaphysical Still Life, Carlo Carrà's Camera Incantata and Renato Guttuso's Crucifixion and Portrait of Alberto Della Ragione.
This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the artistic universe of the Italian 20th century, allowing visitors to appreciate the mastery of artists who have left an indelible mark on the history of art.
